		<description>Good question decubamd; If you only move the whole PCB from a good drive to your failed drive the chances of it working are low. Modern hard drives have what is called &quot;Adaptives&quot; located inside a flash ROM chip on the PCB called the EEPROM. Hitachis have another important chip called the NVRAM which contains even more valuable information.

This ROM information is unique to each drive, and while there is always a small chance that the adaptives may be &quot;close enough&quot; to bring a drive to full functionality; it is a rare occurence.</description>
